From the desk of Corryn G. Freeman, Executive Director of Future Coalition:
I want to address the recent developments regarding the political action committee (PAC), previously known as ‘Future Coalition PAC.’ This PAC, unaffiliated with our organization, has put out anti-Semitic and hateful advertisements across Michigan and Pennsylvania under our name, which we have unequivocally denounced.
We took the PAC to court over the misuse of our brand, and this week, a federal district court in Michigan issued a preliminary injunction against the PAC, ordering the PAC to discontinue all use of the Future Coalition brand immediately. The judge has confirmed that it was “highly likely” that consumers would be confused by the PAC’s use of our brand.
This PAC, which now operates as ‘FC PAC,’ has been directed to immediately stop using ‘Future Coalition’ in its ads, mailers, social media posts, and anywhere else online. Additionally, the PAC has been directed to remove ‘Future Coalition’ or ‘Future Coalition PAC’ wherever possible from its content. The misuse and abuse of our brand ends here.
I want to make it clear that Future Coalition, a 501(c)(4) organization, is not associated with the so-called ‘Future Coalition PAC’ in any capacity. This ruling reinforces our commitment to protecting the integrity of the Future Coalition brand, built over six years by and for young and underrepresented changemakers.
Future Coalition’s focus remains on resourcing young changemakers who are leading grassroots change in their communities. We recently announced our pledge of $350,000 to support youth-centered civic engagement efforts through Election Day. We believe in the power of collaboration and investment to create lasting change, and we are dedicated to ensuring that young voices are heard and represented.
As we go into the final days of this election and aim to protect democracy, I urge our supporters, partners, and the public to remain discerning about political messaging and to understand the significance of this ruling in safeguarding Future Coalition’s commitment to building power for young people.
