Future Coalition works with youth-led and adult-led partners to curate and create trainings that will help youth organizers hone their skills, build capacity, and strengthen their work.
Right now, most of our trainings happens under two programs: Future Incubator and Youth Climate Finance Alliance.
As part of Future Incubator, our nonprofit startup incubator program that gives youth-led groups the professional tools and relationships needed to run successful, lean organizations and lead powerful social movements, we offer a variety of trainings to strengthen and develop young people’s organizing skills.
Future Incubator training topics include building a fundraising plan, developing a strong communications strategy, overseeing a team, and effectively transitioning leadership at a youth-led organization.
Trainings are taught and facilitated by members of the Future Coalition and March On teams and organizers at partner organizations with deep expertise on a range of topics.
Trainings are open to members of our network and groups part of Future Incubator.
Strike to the Streets is training young people on the holistic skills needed to strategically organize around climate justice and climate finance at the grassroots level. Strikes to the Streets has two parallel tracks of training: Political Education and Organizer Series.
Political Education Training
In the six-week Political Education Series, designed for young people, attendees will engage with information concerning the ways “big money” fuels the climate crisis. Organizers will be offered tools and resources on how to mobilize a shift in power within their respective communities, all in efforts to construct an economy that sustains and regenerates Earth’s natural resources for all walks of life.
With instruction from movement building experts, the Political Education Series attendees will take a deep dive into climate finance, and identify the ways racial and social injustice contribute toward harmful environmental practices (including funding fossil fuel extraction). The Political Education training will discuss honoring Indigenous sovereignty and Indigenous folx calls for #LandBack as well as amplification of the needs of Black, Brown, and the various climate-vulnerable communities.
Organizers Series Training
In the Organizing Series, ”Strikes to the Streets: Youth Climate Organizers Take on Wall Street”, we are uniting cohorts of young leaders and local, youth-led organizations across nations. With strategic efforts toward tackling the climate finance industry, the Organizing Series will uplift and invest in the skillsets of various grassroots organizers. We believe movement starts locally. This is why our organizing framework is rooted in building relationships that foster mobilization in local communities.
With instruction from experts, attendees of Organizer Series Two will learn how to mobilize communities around climate finance in an effort to prepare organizers with the best strategies to launch fall actions. Trainers will offer attendees support, tools, and resources to strategize and draft campaign plans, in addition to providing structure for campaign teams!
Over the course of four days participants will be:
-Introduced to the “climate finance” movement through engaging messaging.
-Learn how to structure campaign teams and workflow.
-Strategize and draft campaign plans.
-Establish long-lasting relationships with other climate leaders and groups.
